Mission
To race her brother Kit the North Western Orca across the Atlantic.
Released on the same day in different caches on opposite sides of the Atlantic with a mission to see who can get to the others cache first. This trackable Kelli the North Western Wolf released in Rosie's View in the UK is heading for Treasure Chest in the USA please do your best to help her along the way.
Please bear in mind it's a race so the correct combination of time and distance are vital, a small move within hours may be better than covering a bigger distance weeks later.
Photo's along the way would be great to help us keep with her travels.
**As a result of a little confusion and incorrect logging a third TB Katala the North Western Orca was added to the race to replace Kit who we assumed had been muggled, now there are three in the race. Who will win??
When some good friends of ours up’d sticks and moved to the USA we came up with the idea of this race.
We looked at trackables with flags, items linked to the Pilgrim Fathers, Mayflower etc but eventually settled on this pair of North Western Trackables.
We chose the Wolf and the Orca as they're both family (pack) orientated animals who mate for life, protect their young and travel and stick together.
There are plenty of legends, mainly native American which link the wolf and the Orca (Sea Wolf) but this haida, although a little sad, was a good link for us between the two and our two trackables.
The wolf and the sea.
Once a man found two wolf pups on the beach, he took them to his home and raised them.
When the pups had grown, they would swim out in to the ocean, kill a whale, and bring it to shore for the man to eat.
Each day they did this, soon there was too much meat to eat and it began to spoil.
When the Great Above Person saw this waste he made a fog and the wolves could not find whales to kill nor find they way back to shore.
They had to remain at sea, those wolves became sea wolves (Orca).
