I love the West! Therefore, this coin is special to me in that respect. Also it is special because my son gave it to me. Furthermore, this coin is a resin replica of the original coin that he gave me. He has learned to duplicate the original coins by a process that he invented, so the worry of theft is gone! My goal is that it will leave Pennsylvania and make its way out to "Buffalo Bill Cody" territory, maybe even near Cody, Wyoming, where we visited 2 years ago.
Buffalo Soldiers were mounted, calvary soldiers who served during the Civil War. They were called Buffalo Soldiers by the American Indians because their hair resembled the hide of buffalo. The last Buffalo soldier, Mark Matthews, died Sept 6, 2005 at the age of 111, and is buried at Arlington Cemetary.
