The Golden Spike is what brings local geocachers together for meetups.
The spike has been passed around for many years, from hand to had. Whoever holds the spike must plan a meetup.
Please do not place the spike in a regular cache!
The Golden Spike has brought many cachers in the Portland, Oregon area together for many fun-filled events.
The Golden Spike was the seed for Champoeg, the former yearly gathering of cachers at Champoeg State Park in Oregon.
It was a great time! We drank, ate, took part in wacky events, did some park service projects, and got to know some pretty awesome people.
