Current Goal

This coin would like to have it's picture taken in all 50 States, and in all 50 State Capitals, plus Washington D.C.! Our first coin with this mission went missing after 0 miles, then our second coin with this mission *also* went missing after 0 miles. I know, it's not exactly the best track record, but we're nothing if not stubborn, so we'll try again with this coin!

About This Item

sg.jpg

This 2006 SunshineGang Geocoin is being launched into the wild, in search of good friends and great adventures! Recently, my wife has begun preparations to go back to school for her Masters Degree. As part of her prep, she has to take the MAT test - including learning and memorizing all 50 State Capitals. It has inspired me to release this coin for her - it's goal is to visit and get it's picture taken in all 50 States, and in all 50 State Capitals. It's free to travel here, there, and everywhere along the way - gathering as many miles, stories, and adventures as it can. We hope you enjoy this lil' piece of sunshine, and thanks for keeping it moving!

Made it to Maine! The troop of TBs got to watch the Wife Carrying Campionships at Sunday River Ski Resort. The coarse covers 286 yards, goes up an incline, over a 3 foot log obstscle, across a small "stream", downhill and through a 10 foot long- waist deep mud hole, over another 3 foot log obstacle and through a "sand trap" to the finish. Penalties are issued if the man drops the "wife". The travel bugs were pretty excited for the rest of the day.

We visited several caches inside Portland city limits. It's like being out in the wilderness. Visited the site of the first dam bult in Maine in 1734. All dams were removed and the river flowed freely in 2002 - the first ime in 268 years

We stopped in the historic town of Exeter to catch a cache in New Hamshire. Learned something and had the best Italian sandwich at Olli and Me Bakery & Cafe. The "bugs" raised a ruckus about being left in the car. Oh well. Found the Powderhouse and history behind it most interesting.

Made a quick trip into CT. We had picked up a TB wanting to go to Africa and decided to leave her at this busy TB Hotel. Weren't here long enough to allow the tour group to stretch their "legs." Love how green everything is this way

Our only MA cache. We're headed from Montana to Maine to visit the offspring and have lingered too long along the way. We LOVED this cache! Probably our favorite so far. The walk back through the trees with the buzzards circling above were an omen of things to come. Our TB traveling companions were whining to get out into fresh air. We decided this would be a good photo-op. The TBs were much better behaved than on previous outings, no one fell over or tried to escape - except Looking For Kinky Pinky TB. We decided he was rather scary looking and decided to let him stay.

Driving in to find this cache Mr. Lofty17 found it necessary to stop and salute the GE Meatball. This was an easy find IN THE DAYLIGHT! Let me regress. We are driving from MT to ME, moving TBs and visiting some fun geocaches. Decided to visit Niagra Falls which put us behind schedule so we were trying to find the parking lot at dusk. The GPS kept trying to take around the block. Finally just parked in an available parking lot and "powerwalked" to the area of the cache. By now it was dark. We had no fla shlight. The GPS wasn't very effective in the dark. We poked, prodded and kicked at everything we could see and finally gave up. :( Spent the night at a local hotel, got up this AM and went directly to the cache. This will be our only NY cache headed east.
