As a hitchhiker His goal is to ‘Go Bye’ where ever he can. He would like to travel by all different kinds of transportation to wherever the good geocache folks will take him.
ELF - 10/1/75 - 8/16/87
He was named for J.R.R.Tolkien’s Aragorn Elfstone (Strider) long before it was the “IN” thing to do. He was an avid adventurer and a ‘King’ in every sense of the word. Elf was always dignified and reserved with strangers, and a supreme judge of character. He was a most valued member of his family and the best of companions. -
For those of you who are wondering, surgery to remove a blood blister caused his once proud ear to droop, but the look in his eyes was eternal. -
Elf loved to ‘Go Bye’. He was a great traveler who was ready for any adventure no matter how long or short. Longer was better, but don’t hog the windows. He went to Canada and around the Northeastern U.S. He traveled by both car and boat. The boat was OK, but the dock was shaky at best. He also loved to take walks, and would have loved Geocaching. -
As a hitchhiker His goal is to ‘Go Bye’ where ever he can. He would like to travel by all different kinds of transportation to wherever the good geocache folks will take him. -
His spirit still lives in the hearts of his family, and it is in his memory that the Elfstone Crew takes its name.

Such a great story and all of us that have had previous and current pets understand completely how they are and stay a part of us. Elf had a great ride in the Jeep with us today and we'll take him in the Miata tomorrow with the top down. His ears will LOVE the breeze.

I placed a new cache today, an easy "off and on again" in regards to the highway. I hope that Elf is soon able to "Go Bye" with someone new, to see new places. I've enjoyed my time with him...thanks for such a lovely memorial to a four-legged friend that I wish I had the pleasure of knowing.

Dear Elfstones,
After your very nice email, I wanted to show you the two main reasons I've temporarily adopted Elf: Pippin, my German Shepherd, and Tuppence, my cat, who also had a hematoma in his ear that has caused it to droop. Thanks for contacting me...Elf was very special, and I'm honored to carry his memorial with me.

Logging miles for Elf at Tonnie's 1st Micro Cache. This wasn't the cache to turn him loose for the next finder, but he got to watch some kids playing baseball. I'll let Elf hang out with someone else soon.
