About This Item

Cucamonga Railroad Cacher - The Travel Bug Limited

As with all railroads, the Travel Bug Limited had a set itinerary and schedule. Unfortunately, the Travel Bug LImited got derailed in July 2005 in California, but has gotten back on track clear across the country in New York.  Yep, go figure that one out.  The Travel Bug Limited wants to take a ride on the scenic railroads anywhere in the United States. Some of the stops scheduled on the way include:

Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad
California Western Skunk Train
Golden Spike National Historic Site
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
Black Hills Central Railroad
Mt. Washington Cog Railway
Gettysburg Scenic Railway
Manitou & Pike's Peak Railway

The Travel Bug Limited is a round trip fare, starting in California and ending back in California after it gets to see these famous railways.

Jangeoseas dropped this TB at the Redwood Reteat cache on 12/03/04 Sorry we had it so long. We did have a lot of fun with it. 1st we took it on the Skunk train out of Fort Bragg,CA. It was closed for 6 mo that was one of the delays.2nd we took it on the Wine Train out of Napa Ca, Then we had a hard time finding a cache large enough to drop it into. I could go on about all the fun we had . THANK YOU .All the best to all.

Hello, again, old friend! 😁 We had this T-Bug for quite a while last year, and we took it all over the place. We had hoped to take it for a ride on the Skunk Train, but half of the line was down for repairs, so we had to demure. We couldn't find a cache big enough for it in the time we had, so we took it back south with us and released it. We saw that it was in Pleasanton, which was great, as we came north for a few days to drop off our daughter, Liann, at Humboldt State, and do some 'caching and such, so a sidetrip seemed called for. Aside from the horrendous traffic (Jim, born in Oakland but raised in SoCal, is certain that things are worse in the Bay than they are down south 💀), it was a nice diversion from the long drive. While we cannot take it for a ride on the Skunk this time, either, we are pretty sure that we can find a cache in the general area, although Willits is slim pickin's for geocaches. At the least, though, we'll stop at the station in Willits, and take the Bug's picture there 👍

I gave it to my daughter. Her husband is a train guy. They couldn't take the TB to the next destination, so they placed it in a nearby cache. Sorry it was out of commission for a while.

Yeah, yeah; the cache this was dropped in is a micro, so the Bug wouldn't fit. And we never actually logged a find. Mainly, this drop-and-lift is so that the T-bug's owner could see the log that was left in that cache. He and we pretty-much agree on urban micros :-(
