About This Item

Cucamonga Railroad Cacher - The Travel Bug Limited

As with all railroads, the Travel Bug Limited had a set itinerary and schedule. Unfortunately, the Travel Bug LImited got derailed in July 2005 in California, but has gotten back on track clear across the country in New York.  Yep, go figure that one out.  The Travel Bug Limited wants to take a ride on the scenic railroads anywhere in the United States. Some of the stops scheduled on the way include:

Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad
California Western Skunk Train
Golden Spike National Historic Site
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
Black Hills Central Railroad
Mt. Washington Cog Railway
Gettysburg Scenic Railway
Manitou & Pike's Peak Railway

The Travel Bug Limited is a round trip fare, starting in California and ending back in California after it gets to see these famous railways.

This was a drop-and-lift, at a small cache right near the coastal RR tracks.

The best-laid plans ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Jim had had every intention of driving up to the Santa Cruz area on his day off, to geocache and camp in the redwoods, while Sharon is in Atlanta on business. But daughter Liann needed her mom's car for work on Thursday, so Santa Cruz was out. Decided to find a nice cache somewhere along the Santa Barbara coastline, to finally pass this poor bug on. Kept finding ones too small for it. The one that I knew was an ammo can I couldn't find! ๐Ÿ˜ก It was there two days ago, darn it!

Well, if I have to keep this TB for a while more (I sure don't mind; it's been fun to have along), I might as well get it some more mileage. This was the last cache on the day, and a boffo cache it is. The old bridge was fun to walk, a heavy freight went by and I found a benchmark; a great way to end a geo-day! ๐Ÿ‘

This is the lift half of the drop-and-lift we did at the It's the Pitts geocache in the Mission Oaks area of Camarillo. A very nice, new park in a new development along Calleguas Creek ๐Ÿ™‚ Eventually, we'll get this poor T-Bug moving on its itinerary, but it's been so much fun to have, it'll be tough to let go ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

This TB has been 'in the station' for a while, so we brought it along on our Independence Weekend geo-trek. We found seven caches today; this one was #5. There wasn't anything especially railroadish about this cache; we just thought it might want to keep the rust from forming ;-)

How could I not drop-and-life this TB in this cache? After giving it up for lost for several months, to find it whole when I finally had a chance to get out to it calls for a celebration! ๐Ÿ™‚ Free drinks in the Club Car for all passengers!

As we were unable to drop off this TB up north, as we had planned, we decided to bring it along with us to the 57th Ojai Music Festival ๐Ÿ˜ We did some caching on the way, too. Hope the passengers enjoyed the view and the music. Mahler's Ninth and Bartok's Third Piano Concerto conducted by Pierre Boulez; hard to get much better than that!
