To move from cache to cache in Alaskan regions that have experienced gold rushes or are tied to a famous con man, racking up cool photographs and lots of cache visits. Desired locations include, but are not limited to Sunrise/Hope, Hatcher Pass, Skagway (Soapy Smith), Nome, Fairbanks, and Juneau
This trackable gold bar is in the Land of the Midnight Sun, home of the Golden Heart. Alaska has a history rich in colorful con men and gold rushes to Juneau (1880), 40-Mile (1890s), Sunrise/Hope (1895-98), Nome (1898), Fairbanks (1902) and Hatcher Pass (1920s-1940s) just to name a few, which makes a great combination for some Racketeer-like adventures.
Recreational gold panning is allowed at three state parks: Chugach State Park, Independence Mine - State Historical Site and Kenai State Park.
