About This Item

Otter Steve was born in the wrong place! Otter Steve was born in the Nevada desert - far from any other otters. Steve longs for the sea and would appreciate your help in getting there. Photos of otters are appreciated (especially if you can get Steve in the picture) so that his adopted dad can see how Steve's doing.

It is unclear how Otter Steve got to the desert, since no other otters can be found there. Once the truth is discovered we will surely tell the story.

Coincidentally seen on the home page of the TB while searching for another TB

I think that the TB must be lost, since it' s not moving!

Otter Steve could not be closer to his buddies. This cache is just yards from the ocean with resting seals on the rocks. The water can be seen from the actual cache through the mouth of the cave. Real otters may even come in to visit once they find out he is here.

More of a hand off than a retrieval. Team Fireball was hoping to get Steve closer to other otters. Will try to get to the north coast above Santa Cruz.

Steve is the tiniest, cutest T.B. I have seen. I hated to take him from his ocean view high above the Pacific, but will try and head him in the right direction to get him closer to sea level.

We found the otter resting in the shade of the coolest eucalyptus tree. He could probably here the ocean but could not have seen the crashing waves. Others might study why his family has not re-established habitat lost during the 1920 fur trade. I will study how to get him just a wee bit closer to his kind however big-sur might be a little to far north. I have spotted many near San Simeon and listened to those that were planted with electronic devices.

Thought we might be first to find this cache, but instead found this lovely unique TB! I live in Ventura County but hope to visit the Centeral Coast later this month so will care for Otter Steve until then and hope to get him to Big Sur. Love this bug!
