About This Item

Uncle Fred’s Travel-size Tusk

This TB commemorates my Great Uncle Fred Klerekoper, who was a Presbyterian Missionary in Alaska in the 1930s and 40s. He mailed a real Walrus Tusk to my Grandfather in Michigan without any packaging. He simply put the addresses on white medical tape to the Tusk and popped it in the mail. Can you imagine doing that today?

Note: No walruses were harmed in the creation of this TB.

Oh man groan I was reading the logs, and this TB in its original incarnation has already been to the Napa Valley. Sorry about that, it was so unusual, I grabbed it out of Clayjar's moving cache and brought it home with me. 🤭 I'm so embarassed!
