About This Item

Uncle Fred’s Travel-size Tusk

This TB commemorates my Great Uncle Fred Klerekoper, who was a Presbyterian Missionary in Alaska in the 1930s and 40s. He mailed a real Walrus Tusk to my Grandfather in Michigan without any packaging. He simply put the addresses on white medical tape to the Tusk and popped it in the mail. Can you imagine doing that today?

So, yesterday afternoon, I am setting up a temporary Geocaching event for a dinner party (most are muggles). I have a number of various types and sizes of caches - some mine, and some borrowed. I open one up, and lo and behold, there is lots of stuff inside - including this TB.

After chastising the cache "owner" (gently of course) for holding a TB for so long, she tells me to grab it and move it on. So, as I always do what I am told, here we are.

I will drop it in the cache nearest to where I recovered it to get proper miles, and then will take it with me to get the appropriate pictures before dropping this.
