Current Goal

My aim is to visit the closed and abandoned railways (tracks, tunnels, bridges, stations, viaducts -- anything!) of Britain, learning about them along the way.

About This Item

Mallard TB

Mallard TB is a model of the famous 'A4' class steam locomotive designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for the LNER (London & North Eastern Railway). It set the world speed record for steam locomotives at 126 mph in 1938, and continued in service until 1963. It was returned to steam in 1988 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its record.

The 'real' Mallard is now in the National Railway Museum at York.
