About This Item

Traveling Vicariously

This was a baseball that I got from a Major League game in Baltimore in 1985 (or so) from former Baltimore Oriole pitcher Sammy Stewart. He rolled it over the dugout after warmups and pretty much had me on cloud nine for about a month after the fact. I have never seen it as a "collectible" - just a sentimental reminder of a time when athletes made less than a couple million bucks a year...

Baseball rode around with me for a week. It saw Larry Bird's house, and Larry Bird Blvd. in French Lick. Unfortunately my digital camera is broke, so I couldn't get any pictures. Was going to take him to Jasper, IN (about 20 miles from the current cache its in) to the Indiana Babeball Hall of Fame but their isn't a cache anywhere too close. Jasper is also the home town of Scott Rolen who plays for the Cardinals, maybe someone will pick him up and place a new cache there.
