The American Bowling Congress has entered into an agreement with Killer ‘B’ Promotions to be the title sponsor of the 2003-04 ABC Teen Masters, a youth bowling tour that awards scholarships and introduces young bowlers to demanding Sport Bowling lane conditions.
The first of 16 regional qualifiers was held October 4, 2003 at Cedarvale Lanes in Eagan, MN. Two bowlers from each qualifier earn a berth in the ABC Teen Masters Championship Finals, which will be conducted May 28-31 in Milwaukee.
Open to all youth bowlers ages 13-19, each regional event features six games of qualifying on a Sport condition with the top qualifier earning an automatic berth in the Championship Finals. Bowlers who qualify 2nd through 9th advance to a best of three single-elimination bracket with the winner of that segment also earning a berth into the championship finals.
Previous Bowling Pin Bug bowlers Kollin Stevens, Pat Gallagher and Matt McNeil competed at the Tournament. Qualifyin in 6th place, Kollin made it into the bracket matchplay. Unfortunately, he was matched against a kid who went to the Championship Finals last year.
Matt McNeil was top qualifier and will advance to Milwaukee. A separate tournament (Junior Gold qualifier) was conducted, using the same scores. Matt will advance to the Junior Gold National Championship in Dal;las, TX next July.
Congratulations on your double whammy Matt !
