9-11 Commemorative Geocoin PROXY

We would like to see this PROXY coin get to New York of course. Then after that it should just travel from cache to cache. Hopefully when ever anyone finds this they will reflect, at least briefly on where they were when they first heard about the Twin Towers.

We visited the Twin Towers on the morning of September 10, 2001. Then flew out of new York in the early morning hours of September 11, 2001. We were in the air on our way back to Florida when the Twin Towers were attacked. We still reflect back on just how close we actually came. We visited ground zero a few years later and took some pictures at the wall.

In commemoration of the September 11, 2001 attacks, this coin not only pays tribute to the past events of that day, but also to the future. The front side represents the twin towers as they stood before the attacks; the crash landing of United Airlines Flight 93 near Shanksville, PA; and American Airlines Flight 77 at the pentagon.

The backside represents the rebuilding of the twin towers' site showing that we will never forget and that we can recover. The police badge and firefighter Maltese cross represent those who survived and that public service to our citizens will continue without pausing. The Statue of Liberty shows that liberty will prevail even in the toughest of times.
