The Blues ain't about feeling better; it's about making other people feel worse.

―Bleeding Gums Murphy to Lisa

With her Barry sax in tow, Lisa is ready to travel the world in tribute to her hero, Bleeding Gums Murphy. She'd love to get to Springfield, all of the ones all over the world. She'd like to get to Krustland in Orlando and The Williamsburg Bridge and to see the Albuquerque Isotopes. Take lots of pictures of her along the way. I'd love for her to get back to me (GC591G3 or GC593G3) eventually, after a few decades of travel perhaps, so we can debrief.

Went for a wander to nearby Garson’s Green which is a lovely part of London. It is named after the rectors of the parish of Fulham whose residence once adjoined this patch of land, which stood on the site of St Dionis’ church from the 14th century and subsequently the name was adopted for the district. Lots of people sunbaking on the green. 🩳

Across London to Bowes Park for a multi cache. Not much to report except Arthur C Clarke (1917 – 2008), the pioneering English science fiction author and inventor, lived in Bowes Park at one point. 👽

I thought you could do with some sporting culture during your stay in London so I took you to Twickenham Stadium, England's national rugby union stadium and the venue of the England national rugby union team home matches. It is the world's largest rugby union stadium. 🏉

Took a lovely stroll along Regent’s Canal in Islington. Lots of people out enjoying the sun. Islington means "Gīsla's hill" from the Old English personal name Gīsla and dun ("hill", "down"). The name later mutated to Isledon, which remained in use well into the 17th century when the modern form arose. 🚣

Welcome back to England. Took a quick walk to the Thames at Hammersmith where you live at the moment. You walked past The Dove which is a riverside pub with what the Guinness Book of Records listed as the smallest bar room in the world. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Maybe because of the rain but our train was delayed leaving Fishguard so we missed our connection to London. Changed trains in Port Talbot instead. Port Talbot is one of the biggest steelworks in the world, but has been under threat of closure since the 1980s. 👩🏻‍🏭

Time to go home which was lucky because it was absolutely pouring today. It would have been awful hiking. Before leaving St Davids/Tyddewi, we had time for a visit to the cathedral, the resting spot for St David, the patron saint of Wales and the only one of the United Kingdom’s patron saints to be actually born here.

St Davids is the United Kingdom's smallest city by population (1,751), but not area (the City of London). St Davids was given city status in the 12th century. In England and Wales city status was traditionally given to cathedral towns in the early 1540s when Henry VIII founded dioceses. City status was lost in 1886, but restored in 1994 by Queen Elizabeth II. 👼

Last day of hiking for this trip. A pretty easy day for me today, Whitesands to Portclais and then I walked back to St Davids because I was hosting an event. Nice walking but a bit grey with some spots of drizzle. More seals, razorbills, and peregrines. Off the coast is Ramsey Island which has bird and seal breeding areas. The waters around the island have significant tidal effects And the sea was really roiling as we walked past. 🐧

A bit more overcast today. We started from Porthgain and should have ended at Whitesands Beach. Unfortunately, there we were too late for the bus and there were no taxis to be found so we had to walk along the road to St Davids (no apostrophe apparently). Along the way, we stopped to watch the youngsters leaping into the the water at the Blue Lagoon, an old slate quarry. We saw another adder, a slow worm (or a legless lizard as they say where I’m from), a couple of peregrine falcons, and some razorbills. Really liked the neolithic fort remnants at St Davids Head. 🏊‍♀️
