The Mermaid Of Zennor:
This piece of Cornish folklore was first recorded in 1873 by William Bottrell.
The Mermaid of Zennor was a beautiful, 'ageless', mysterious woman whom attended services at St. Senara Church in Zennor and Morvah.
Many people became enchanted with her but she was only interested in one young man, Mathey Trewella, One day he followed her home and was never seen again at church.
Soon a ship layed anchor close to Pendour Cove and the mermaid appeared asking for them to remove their anchor as it was blocking her door, and she couldn't get inside to her children. The nearby villagers heard this tale and concluded that it was the same woman. They commerated this story by carving a bench in the shape of a mermaid.
This carved 'mermaid chair' can still be seen at St. Senara's Church today.
I'm 'releasing' this trackable as a personal 'mascot' trackable and it will stay with me at all times.
This trackable will help commerate a little piece of Cornish folklore, I'm originally from Cornwall and enjoyed learning some of the folklore at school. I am named Zenna, which my family believes means 'Child Of The Sea' (very apt as i'm an aquarius)
