This cache is at Metsäkansa church. Metsäkansa roughly translates as Forest People and it's the name of the village the church is in. The church was built in 1938 and designed by architect Jaakko Tähtinen. The costs were covered by Emil Aaltonen, a businessman born in the village and later best known for his shoe factory in nearby Tampere city. Aaltonen was a generous benefactor and donated a lot of money to good causes, such as building libraries. He also collected art and started a foundation to fund scientific research.

Since 2006, last weekend of January is dedicated to birdwatching by BirdLife Finland. Target is to register different species of birds and calculate their number in a certain spot, then report results to BirdLife organisation. This is done to estimate how far certain species of birds have spread and what is their approximate number. This event was to watch birds with other geocachers.
