Current Goal

This is my second Travel Bug and it is a hedgehog, there is a web site http://www.hedgehogstreet.org/ for the lovely creatures and there is The Day of the Hedgehog in Telford on 21st November 2015, Telford International Centre 10am - 4.30pm.  The main speaker is Pre-eminent hedgehog expert and President of BHPS, Pat undertook seminal early research on the ecology of the hedgehog, through his work at Royal Holloway, University of London. He will be talking about a lifetime of studying hedgehogs, the basis for his book 'Hedgehogs', which will be available to buy at the event.

So please visit as many locations good for wildlife.

Many Thanks

Hedgehog visited Cataract Gorge today. This amazing place is only a 15 minute walk from the Launceston City centre. The south Esk River, which flows through this spectacular gorge, floods periodically resulting in the most amazing displays as wild and turbulent waters crash through the narrow opening. Today the waters were calm and allowed an Australian Fur Seal, regular visitors to the Cataract Gorge, to pull up on the rocks for a New Year's Eve snooze.

Liffey Falls are claimed by some to be the prettiest falls in Tasmania. The Liffey River flows through cold temperate rainforest and we regularly visit this area to search for fungi and to enjoy a 2-3 hour walk along a fern covered track to the falls. The reserve is included within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, testifying to it's global significance as a special wild place.
