In memory of Big Al. It's 5 o'clock somewhere....
The mission to begin with is to visit the island of Zante and the places listed in the description. Will update the mission once that has been achieved...
Uncle Alan moved to Zante several years ago and loved it! In February 2012 we (eljoma) introduced Uncle Alan to the wonderful world of Geocaching while he was back for one of his winter stays with Granny in Thurston, Suffolk, UK. He helped us find and retrieve a cache that was very high up in the trees (the 'big' in Big Al was literal!).
Back at the house we helped him set up his own caching account as greenfrogzante. He was amazed when he looked at the map and saw there were caches on the island, including one that was at a spot he had visited many times and couldn't quite believe he must have been sitting right next to the cache every time! When he returned to the island a few weeks later we sent him with a tb that we had retrieved for him to place in a cache out there.
Alan started out at The Green Frog in Argassi which is where the idea for this tb came from. In 2014 he opened Big Al's (not quite on the) Beach Bar in Old Kalamaki. Sadly on 31st January 2017 he was killed in a car accident on the island he loved. We weren't able to visit the island, although we do hope to some day, so for now Big Al's Green Frog can do it for us! Al was loved by all that met him and many of the photos used on this page are courtesy of his friends on facebook, others were taken by my sister Laura (geocaching name Gumbo's Army). Through geocaching we have met many people we now class as friends. One of these is headed to Athens in March and will take the tb there for us. From there we'd like him to visit the island of Zante.
While there we'd love for him to visit the following places (in no particular order) -
The Green Frog Bar & Restaurant, Main Road,Argassi. This is where Alan settled in to island life and became one of the Zante Family.

The Church Ag. Nikolas on the hill in Argassi. This is Alan's final resting place and has everything he loved, a view over the sea, an olive tree (every trip home was accompanied by olive oil to sell!) and women either side of him 
After spending time on the island, Big Al's Green Frog should travel far and wide, Big Al's Green Frog has been released to travel the world and visit as many bars, beaches, and frog-related places as possible, while generally enjoying himself and living by the premise that it is indeed 5 o'clock somewhere!
