To visit the giraffes in the National Zoo in Washington DC, and then return to Fort Worth, Texas. And do it all faster than it takes my friend, Aahnold, to go to San Diego and back.
My name is Dubya. I’m a giraffe Travel Bug. I am in a race against Aahnold, who is also a giraffe TB (read about him on his page titled Aahnold And Dubya.
I want to travel east all the way to Washington DC, visit the National Zoo, get my photograph taken with the giraffes there, and then make it all the way back to a cache in Fort Worth, Texas. Like I said, I’m in a race against Aahnold. He’s doing the same thing, but he’s going west to the San Diego Zoo.
Those western giraffes are okay, but the eastern giraffes are hip!

Oh yeah, Dubya visited the National Zoo. Took the metro to Woodley Park-Zoo. Walked up Connecticut, strolled through the gates and....
DISASTER! There are NO GIRAFFES at the National Zoo! Randle, the regular giraffe inhabitant, has been moved to Florida. See http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Publications/PressMaterials/PressReleases/NZP/2006/Randle.cfm
Disappointed, Dubya DID visit the pandas.

The Natural History Museum was nice, but Dubya quivered with excitement as he neared his goal. The fulfillment of his dreams - to meet the Giraffe Representative Of American Nation (GROAN to those politically in-th-know in the Giraffian Party.)

Dubya was very excited to learn that he was on his way to Washington, DC. Checking out the previous logs, he seemed to get so close, then veered off track. As we traveled closer and closer, Dubya's excitement became obvious. First stop for him was actually at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum, where Dubya got to meet a real giraffe in our nation's capitol.

Whoops! Forgot to actually grab this bug when I logged the cache. Took it because I thought I could help it reach its goal... (more to come)
