Interesting bug, picked up from a cache appropriately in-theme. My favorite regular recipe is probably my huevos rancheros, consisting of salsa, sauteed onion, fried egg, pepperjack cheese, cilantro, avacado slices, a pinch of tumeric and salt to taste, served on top of a flour tortilla that's been browned to where it is getting close to being crispy. 😛

Here is one of my favorite summertime recipes that I make using fresh tomatoes and basil from my garden. Of course it will work with store or farmer's market bought tomatoes and basil too. I normally don't measure things when I cook, so all the measurements listed are approximate and can be adjusted to your tastes.

Pasta with Fresh Tomato, Basil, and Garlic

Enough pasta for one large main course serving
2 medium sized tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1/8 cup chopped fresh sweet basil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Mix together the tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Cook the pasta. Combine the sauce with the hot pasta. Spinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.

What a cool TB! Planning on placing Bon Appetit in a very special cache that I will be placing this month as a tribute to a very special woman who changed the way Americans eat and enjoy food - Julia Child. She would have turned 93 years old this month. Being the down to earth and good humored woman that she was, I think she would have enjoyed geocaching and enjoyed having a TB named after her sign off phrase.

Got this one from the Joani's birthday party. This TB is going to a friend of mine who is going to put it in a very special cooking related cache. Stay tuned.

Better late than never, I'm posting my recipe! It's something I "created" myself, and it's very rich and very yummy.

Cream of Brie and Mushroom Soup

I small onion, chopped
1/2 box of mushrooms, sliced
4 tablespoons butter
1/8 cup + 1 tablespoon of flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups vegetable broth
1 chicken bouillon cube
1/3 pound Brie cheese, diced

  1. In a sauce pan, saute onion and mushrooms in butter until soft. Stir in flour.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in milk, broth, and bouillon; mix well. Return to the heat and simmer, stirring, until the soup thickens. Add diced Brie cheese and stir until melted. Transfer the soup to a food processor and blend until smooth. Heat through before serving.

What a great idea for a travel bug! I'll hunt up a favourite recipe and post it before (or when) I drop this guy off into another cache. Then, I'll have to remember to try some of the recipes that others have already posted. Thanks! 🙂
