PLEASE DON’T KEEP ME!
Stand tall and proud, patriot — for you now carry the spirit of liberty, adventure, and red, white & blue geocaching pride! I am Old Glory, the banner of the brave and the free, and I’m here to journey far and wide, from sea to shining sea — one cache at a time.
By the rockets’ red glare and the twilight’s last gleaming, my mission is clear: I’m on a noble quest to find my fellow defenders of freedom and doers of good — my heroic comrades like Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Batman, and the real-life heroes that walk among us: military members, firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and the unsung champions of every day — moms, dads, and mentors who serve with heart. Take me from cache to cache as we search for these valiant souls across this great land. Snap a photo of me with these heroes — whether they wear a cape, a badge, or a baby on their hip. It’s not just about the miles — it’s about the meaning behind each stop. And don’t you worry, fellow geocacher — if you want to bring me along to an event, parade, or even a cookout, I’m happy to stay a spell and be discovered by your crew. I live for adventure, honor, and camaraderie!
Proxy Note: If the original Travel Bug turns up after the proxy has been released, please reach out to me—I’d be happy to arrange postage to have it returned.
Now listen up, because this one’s a cause worth saluting: I’m also on a mission to recruit new listeners to the PodCacher Podcast — a family-friendly, flag-waving show all about geocaching goodness. They’ve been bringing stories, tips, and laughs to the community for over 20 years — talk about dedication! March on over to their site, give ‘em a listen, and when you do, be sure to tell ‘em that Team 57 and Old Glory sent you. Let’s support those who spotlight the heart of this great hobby.
Freedom isn’t free, but geocaching adventures sure are fun! Keep me moving, keep me pictured, and let’s fly the flag of joy, wonder, and connection wherever the trail leads. God bless geocaching — and God bless America!

Found this cache on the return trip home to Virginia after spending some quality time with family down in San Antonio, Texas. Couldn’t resist the opportunity to snag a few new counties along the way—every dot on the map counts!
Big thanks to all the cache hiders out there who keep this amazing game going strong. Your creativity/dedication fuels our adventures!

I’m marking this Travel Bug as “missing” since there have been no updates or contact from the geocacher who last logged picking it up. To keep the journey alive, I’ll be releasing a proxy Travel Bug into the wild soon.
Note: If the original Travel Bug turns up after the proxy has been released, please reach out to me—I’d be happy to arrange postage to have it returned.
