Current Goal

To advocate a safer riding environment for motorcylists by travelling and spreading awareness to everyone about motorcycle safety and sharing the roadway with motorcyclists.

Do Not Keep This Coin, Please Keep It Moving!

About This Item

This coin is being released (10/14/08 in Pittsburgh, PA) as part of the Todie's Wild Ride Bike Awareness Project initiated by Rockin Roddy in response to the death of his good friend Tod Phillips. On August 12, 2008, Tod was riding a motorcycle when he was killed in an accident caused by a left turning vehicle. Tod was one third of Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom. This coin is released in his memory and in memory of all motorcyclists killed on the road.

Thanks to Rockin Roddy for giving us the opportunity to help spread the word about Motorcycle Safety!

For more info about motorcycle safety please visit Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

Update: We never thought that this would personally affect us, but Memorial Day Weekend 2009, my uncle was riding his motorcycle and was hit by a car that ran a red light. He lost his leg in the accident, but fortunately is recovering very well. We're thankful for the man who jumped out of his car and put his belt around my uncle's shattered leg as a tourniquet, or else he may have bled to death right there in the intersection.

Thanks to cjmtony crew for grabbing this coin
so quickly!!! They got it before I got home to log it.
I had it much tooooo long. Most of the
caches I've done recently were too small for bugs or
places I didn't think it would be moved along safely.

Thanks for getting the Awareness messages out!!

Safe and happy caching to all

This is a really beautiful coin-- love the glow headlights!!

Got my first HD on 7-11-87 and was hit by a left turning car on 8-8-88.
Totaled the '85 Sporty. Now I ride an '86 Low Rider Sport!!

Thank you for spreading the awareness message in honor of Tod and
all those we've lost in motorcycle accidents.

A tip that was given to me a little late to help me in my accident is
a great tip for both motorcycle and car operators:

WATCH THE WHEELS OF THE OTHER VEHICLE
EVEN IF THE DRIVER SEEMS TO BE LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU,
THEY MAY NOT ACTUALLY SEE YOU!!!

Safe and happy motoring to all and

I retrieved this from the Midwest Geobash 2009 and Dolphin Lady mistakenly retrieved it but then went back and discovered it so it did not show in her possession or the bash. Anyhow I picked it up because I am a motorcycle rider and have totaled two bikes by left turning vehicles so I can relate. Sorry to hear about your friend. I will move it along.
