Alan Turing (1912-1954) was an English mathematician and computer scientist who was most well known for the Turing Machine and for cracking the Enigma Codes, helping the Allied Forces in World War II. For this, he is a genius and undercredited hero.
Sadly, he was ridiculed and even outcasted for being gay, being prosecuted for "homosexual acts."
Turing died on June 8, 1954. The ruling at the time was "accidental poisioning" but later investigations determined that his death was likely a suicide, possibly attributed to his sexuality.
