Surprise, you’ve just discovered a "Buddies Squared" math buddy trackable from Texas Instruments (TI)! Now, continue to spread the math love.

TI joined forces with Geocaching HQ to release 3,000 trackables to help spread math love all around the world. This grand Geocaching adventure is sure to get the math love flowing. Nothing sets an arithmetic aficionado’s heart all aflutter like a good puzzle, and there’s no limit to the joy that these math buddies can bring.

What’s the best way to multiply your geocaching adventure? Bring a friend, maybe two. It’s always better to explore in groups of three or five, especially if you can’t even.

Now that you’ve found "Buddies Squared" math buddy, use the code on the back to log it. Be sure to take your picture with it, and move it to another geocache so that the math love can keep on spreading. Share your photos on social media with #SpreadMathLove and learn more about the promotion at geocaching.com/TImathlove.

(Psst … there’s also a special math bonus if you’re able to find all five trackables.)

ABBREVIATED RULES The 2021 TI Math Love Geocaching Photo Contest is open only to U.S. residents 13 years of age or older. No purchase necessary to enter or win. About This Item

"Évariste Galois, pronounced Gall-uh-wah, (25 October 1811 – 31 May 1832) was a French mathematician and political activist. While still in his teens, he was able to determine a necessary and sufficient condition for a polynomial to be solvable by radicals, thereby solving a problem standing for 350 years. His work laid the foundations for Galois theory and group theory,[two major branches of abstract algebra, and the subfield of Galois connections." [1]

He died May 31, 1832 at age 20 from  being shot once in the stomach—during a duel, May 30, 1832.
