About This Item

ONE THOUSAND

ONE THOUSAND TB This travel bug is a HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) in desert camoflauge. The bug is starting out in the ONE THOUSAND PURPLE HEARTS cache in Bellevue, Washington. It is a tribute bug for all the men and women in uniform who have lost their lives in Iraq. Regardless of your view of the conflict remember to show compassion for the families who are left with the burden of moving on without their loved ones.

I have seen many pictures of burning, ambushed vehicles in the streets of Iraq, this little model somehow seemed appropriate as a way to symbolize the sacrifices made by our fallen.

After making a short stop at the Kenedy memorial where the rover did not fit in to the cache box it moved on to another cache. This spot is a smal park dedicated to the solder: Nadav Elad. I will upload the picture of the memorial plaque. It took me a week to post this new cache because I was in army service so all in all it has been a very intensively military time for all.

Retrieve It from a Cache 12/25/2010 Yarives retrieved it from 9-11 Memorial Israel   Visit Log

We picked the Travel Bug up at the 9-11 memorial. Generally following the instructions, I thanked my son, who is currently serving in an elite combat unit in the IDF and he in turn thanked me - as I am a combat paramedic in active reserve in the IDF. The Idea of the bug is really nice and worthy.
I also liked the battle ready connection to the Humvee. I did not get the chance to ride in one because my medical unit uses a half-tank but in another 2 months I will be doing a short training session and maybe we will play around in the vehicle.
We will hold on to bug far a while until we find a worthy place for it.

Pictures forthcoming....

On the bench there were some amoureux so occupied that they were not interested in what happened under my feet. Easy cache, excellent for dropping a GC and picking up a TB, which was waiting there for me since April. Now it will discover a German National cemetery...!
