Visited 1/30/2024 Wombatwandering took it to St George's Circus Obelisk London, United Kingdom - 13.64 miles  Visit Log

Over to the wonderfully named area of London called Elephant and Castle. It is named after a pub/coaching inn which was first mentioned in the mid 1700s. It was the birthplace of the scientists Michael Faraday (electromagnetism, electrolysis, the practical use of electricity, and the discoverer of benzene) and John Newlands (inventor of the periodic table). It was also where Michael Caine and Charlie Chaplin grew up. 🐘

Visited 1/28/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Lost Pub #17 THE RAILWAY TAVERN London, United Kingdom - 20.59 miles  Visit Log

I needed some calendar filling stats and Feltham in far west Greater London looked like just the spot. Notable residents include Freddie Mercury and Brian May from Queen, Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, and athletics star Mo Farah. 🏃🏽

Visited 1/27/2024 Wombatwandering took it to London Biggin Hill Airport London, United Kingdom - 14.29 miles  Visit Log

It was a group outing to tackle the new geoart series around Biggin Hill Airport in south east London today. Biggin Hill is best known for its role during the Battle of Britain in the Second World War, when it served as one of the principal fighter bases protecting London and South East England from attack by German Luftwaffe bombers. Both Spitfires and Hurricanes from a variety of squadrons being based there. It currently has no scheduled airline service as flights using the airport are not permitted to carry fare-paying passengers but it was very busy with business shuttle flights and private jets. Mallorca seemed a popular destination. Must be a lot of business there……. 🏝️

Visited 1/26/2024 Wombatwandering took it to TUBE SideTracked - Green Park London, United Kingdom - 2.77 miles  Visit Log

Wandered down to Green Park next to Buckingham Palace. It’s one of eight Royal Parks in London. Geocaches are not allowed in Royal Parks. Green Park was created by Charles II in 1660 because he wanted to walk to Hyde Park without leaving royal soil. 🤴🏻

Visited 1/25/2024 Wombatwandering took it to London Event by The Tower on Burns Night London, United Kingdom - 41.42 miles  Visit Log

Off to an event near the Tower of London to celebrate Burns Night. This is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns (1759 -1796) and is a big deal in Scotland. A tradition of it is Piping in the Haggis where everyone stands as the haggis is brought in and then someone recites the poem Address To The Haggis. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Visited 1/24/2024 Wombatwandering took it to FYI 830 - Thriplow Eastern England, United Kingdom - 44.19 miles  Visit Log

I was invited to join another caching team on a trip to Thriplow, Cambridgeshire. It’s a pretty village with thatched roof houses. A bit exciting when the last bus of the day didn’t stop for us and we had to walk the three kilometres back to the train in the dark. 🏡

Visited 1/23/2024 Wombatwandering took it to SideTracked - Ravenscourt Park London, United Kingdom - 29.58 miles  Visit Log

Always good when there is an event close to home, even if we needed an umbrella to get there, and it was not very close to Ravenscourt Park Station. The freezing but clear weather in London has given way to warmer but wetter days. ☔️

Visited 1/20/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Bottersnikes aand Gumbles. A night time rescue. Southern England, United Kingdom - 32.8 miles  Visit Log

There was a London Cachers outing to Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, the home of author Roald Dahl. We were after a night cache with a high DT. After a few chilly hours stomping around the woods and solving all the puzzles, the cache was successfully found by our team of 15 cachers. Originally I thought that so many cachers might be a disaster but it turned out to be the perfect number. Good fun. 🔦

Visited 1/19/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Debs54 in 2024 - Happy Birthday! London, United Kingdom - 1.97 miles  Visit Log

And another celebration event. This time for Debs who turned 70. Excellent turn out! 🎁

Visited 1/15/2024 Wombatwandering took it to D/T Grid Completed! ✅ London, United Kingdom - 13.29 miles  Visit Log

My geofriend, TeamHeed, celebrated finishing his first DT grid tonight so you helped him celebrate in a pub near beautiful Tower Bridge. 🎉
