Current Goal

Norman wants to visit the sites of ancient battlefields. Photographic evidence of his heroics would be most appreciated...

Update (Nov 2005): Norman suffered defeat at the hands of Muggles in Daresbury Firs - but lives on as Norman II!

(Many thanks to John Stead for assistance with Norman's resurrection)

Norman is battling on after his resuscitation and has today visited the site of the Battle of Red Bank (1648)at Winwick near Warrington.
To quote from the Warrington Guardian:-
"Red Bank, Winwick was the scene of the greatest battle of the Civil War in Lancashire. In August, 1648, Oliver Cromwell persued and fought an invading force of about 24,000 Scots under the command of the Duke of Hamilton. This battle started in Preston and continued for 30 miles until the Scots made their last stand at Winwick. Over 1,000 men were killed at Winwick."

  • Norman ready to fight at Red Bank
  • Norman stands on the road sign The bank behind is sandstone but the name Red Bank is said to have come from the blood which was spilled in the fields behind.

The Knight was without sheet so wasn't sure what his quest was. Unable to get him near to any battle sites during the week so will have to drop him again in Cheshire (off to Australia next weekend:-))) He seems to have lost his sword but is still sporting a heavy axe on his back and his shield in his hand. Will print him a new sheet and pop him in a bag before we re-site him.
