This cache has been archived.

bluepant: Retiring many of my caches to open up spots for new caches. I haven't had time to go caching or maintain my caches lately. This series was fun. Once I get time to cache again, I'll be hiding some new ones.

Geocache Description:

About This Cache:

New England Patriots

(AFL: 1960 – 1969
NFL: 1970 - Present)

2001 Super Bowl Champions (XXXVI)
2003 Super Bowl Champions (XXXVIII)
2004 Super Bowl Champions (XXXIX)

Five Facts about the New England Patriots:

·         With his last second field goals to win both Super Bowl XXXVI and Super Bowl XXXVIII, Adam Vinatieri became the first player to be the deciding factor in two different Super Bowl victories.

·         Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was drafted in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Montreal Expos in 1995.

·         When the Patriots drafted Irving Fryar with the number one overall pick in the 1984 NFL Draft, he became the first wide receiver ever drafted number one overall.

·         On January 1, 2006 in the regular season finale against the Dolphins, New England Patriots backup Quarterback Doug Flutie successfully drop kicked the ball for an extra point. While still a legal scoring play, the drop kick had not been used in a game since 1941.

·         At one time, the Patriots were the only team in the league who had a picture of a football as part of their helmet logo.

Now about the cache: Week 6: Good old fashion geocache. I decided it was time for a kid friendly cache, loaded with kid tradables and room for TB. No evil tricks this time, just a little camo. Muggles should not be a problem. The shortest path to gz may not be the best path! Don’t forget to keep track of your playbook for the series. Have fun!

About The Series:

"ROAD TO THE SUPER BOWL"

Welcome to the NFL football season. What would the NFL season be like without a new football cache series to find? Throughout the football weeks, bluepant and mob1971, will be hiding a series of different style NFL team caches. These caches hope to excite the football fanatics and also teach the not so football savvy some things about each team. These caches will provide clues and information to our Super Bowl cache finale called "Road to the Super Bowl"

PRESEASON GAMES (Teaser caches, does not include the needed hints for the series finale cache):
DALLAS TEXANS and CANTON BULLDOGS

Series Finale:
Stage 1 – Playbook
Stage 2 – Super Bowl

Each cache will contain a trivia question about that team that could be critical to finding the final cache "Road to the Super Bowl". Please make sure you take time to read your playbook and keep up with the questions and answers in preparation for the FINAL exam. Please DO NOT POST any of the answers or questions in your logs. If you have any questions regarding the trivia questions, feel free to email bluepant or mob1971. The FINAL playbook will contain a variety of questions from the above caches in order to obtain the "Road to the Super Bowl" coordinates (HINT: Answers to FINAL playbook will come from a number of caches you found during the season, so I would hate for you to try to skip one or two of the caches and miss a question). Have fun and enjoy this series.
