This cache has been archived.

bluepant: Retiring many of my caches to open up spots for new caches. I haven't had time to go caching or maintain my caches lately. This series was fun. Once I get time to cache again, I'll be hiding some new ones.

Geocache Description:

About This Cache:

Pittsburgh Steelers

(NFL: 1933 - Present)

1974 Super Bowl Champions (IX)

1975 Super Bowl Champions (X)

1978 Super Bowl Champions (XIII)

1979 Super Bowl Champions (XIV)
2005 Super Bowl Champions (XL)

2008 Super Bowl Champions (XLIII)

Five Facts about the Pittsburgh Steelers:

·         The Steelers are the only team with a logo on just one side of their helmets.

·         The 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers team that won the Super Bowl consisted of no players that had ever played for any other team in the NFL.

·         Former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis has bowled a perfect game of 300.

·         Actor Ed O’Neill, most famous for playing Al Bundy on the popular Fox sitcom Married… With Children, was signed by the Steelers in 1969 but he was released before the 1969 season started.

·         Penn State Football Coach Joe Paterno was offered the Head Coaching position with the Steelers; when he turned the position down, the job was offered to Chuck Noll.

Now about the cache: Week 15: I am a Cleveland Browns Fan… So, of all the other football teams, the Steelers are my least favorite team (Ravens come a close second)! When thinking about how I was going to hide this cache, I wanted to display my dislike for the team somehow. Please be VERY CAREFUL when searching/retrieving this cache, there is a large drop off near the cache. If you bring your kids to look for caches, I would recommend they stay in the car for this search. Slightly different kind of container for these losers.Don’t forget to keep track of your playbook for the series. Have fun!

About The Series:

"ROAD TO THE SUPER BOWL"

Welcome to the NFL football season. What would the NFL season be like without a new football cache series to find? Throughout the football weeks, bluepant and mob1971, will be hiding a series of different style NFL team caches. These caches hope to excite the football fanatics and also teach the not so football savvy some things about each team. These caches will provide clues and information to our Super Bowl cache finale called "Road to the Super Bowl"

PRESEASON GAMES (Teaser caches, does not include the needed hints for the series finale cache):
DALLAS TEXANS and CANTON BULLDOGS

Series Finale:
Stage 1 – Playbook
Stage 2 – Super Bowl

Each cache will contain a trivia question about that team that could be critical to finding the final cache "Road to the Super Bowl". Please make sure you take time to read your playbook and keep up with the questions and answers in preparation for the FINAL exam. Please DO NOT POST any of the answers or questions in your logs. If you have any questions regarding the trivia questions, feel free to email bluepant or mob1971. The FINAL playbook will contain a variety of questions from the above caches in order to obtain the "Road to the Super Bowl" coordinates (HINT: Answers to FINAL playbook will come from a number of caches you found during the season, so I would hate for you to try to skip one or two of the caches and miss a question). Have fun and enjoy this series.
