Fleet Bay from Mossyard Shore
The Fleet Valley is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas
in the South of Scotland yet it is often bypassed by tourists who
trundle along the A75 to Stranraer and Cairnryan bound for Northern
Ireland. This series of four caches will take you to locations
which the local people have recently voted as being the best places
to admire the views and experience the wildlife of the area.
Gatehouse of Fleet has a fascinating heritage and the town
itself has many historical locations which are worth visiting. Car
parking is available in the town centre and all services can be
located nearby. For light lunches and refreshments we suggest
'Galloway Country Style' and if you are looking for a bar lunch or
evening meal 'The Ship Inn' would be our favoured choice.

Gatehouse from the viewpoint
The cache is located up a short but fairly steep path leading
from the road at the west end of the town. The path is grassy and
rarely muddy and your efforts will soon be rewarded with fine views
over the town and surrounding countryside. An interpretation board
helps pinpoint the buildings around the town and beyond.
You are looking for a 35mm film canister - you will not need to
disturb any structure - just look carefully!
