Fleet Bay from Mossyard Shore
The Fleet Valley is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas
in the South of Scotland yet it is often bypassed by tourists who
trundle along the A75 to Stranraer and Cairnryan bound for Northern
Ireland. This series of five caches will take you locations which
the local people have recently voted as being the best places to
admire the views and experience the wildlife of the area.

Rainton Farm, the home of Cream O'Galloway ice cream, is an
organic farm. The woodlands which this multi-cache will walk you
through have been largely planted using organic farming methods.
There is abundance of wildlife in the area, particularly around the
lochan. Why not take time to deviate off the 1.75 mile walk route
to view the birdlife from the bird hide. The walk route is uniquely
accessible for push chairs and wheel chairs so all the family can
enjoy the experience. It's a lovely, easy walk with a viewpoint
including an interprative panel indicating the key locations
visible. When we lived in the area in the early 1990's we used to
love visiting this place. It's special, hence we encourage you to
come and experience the natural beauty of the area.
The co-ordinates provided above are for the parking area at the
Cream O' Galloway Visitor Centre. Access to the locations you need
to visit is free of charge and the walk route is open all year
(even when the visitor centre is closed during the winter).
Similarly there is no charge for parking.
You are looking for a medium sized lock-n-lock box. Note that
there is a bonus in the cache during the visitor centre open season
(Easter - September). The management of the visitor centre have
very kindly included vouchers for a free ice cream. Please take
your voucher(s) to the shop in the visitor centre to claim your
cones. Please do not abuse this kind gesture - a maximum of 4
vouchers per cacher (eg family of 4) please.
