Geocache Description:

Linkim Shore is a stony beach which lies within the bounds of the St. Abbs & Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve, sited halfway between the coastal settlements of St. Abbs and Eyemouth.

Description

The starting points I would recommend for attempting this cache are St. Abbs, Eyemouth, Coldingham or Coldingham Bay. Once the car is secure the easiest way to reach Linkim Shore is to follow the coastal path, south if you start from St. Abbs or Coldingham Bay, north if you start from Eyemouth. There is also a path from Coldingham to Linkim Shore via Paddockmire and Fleurs. This could form part of a circular route; the path however isn’t well defined.

The Berwickshire coast is well worth exploring, Eyemouth is the main fishing port on this coast, and is always alive with the hustle and bustle of boats. St. Abbs is a quaint fishing village, with a spectacular location, overlooked by the towering cliffs of St. Abbs Head. At Coldingham Bay is a beautiful sandy beach that has rated highly in water quality tests for bathing beaches.

An hourly bus service runs between St. Abbs, Coldingham and Eyemouth.

Linkim Shore is a quiet and more often than not completely deserted beach. At the southern end the Abbey burn flows into the sea, above which stand two metal target boards once used as part of a rifle range. The beach is strewn with flotsam and jetsam so any beachcomber should enjoy a walk along the high tide line.

When you leave the cache, please, make sure that it is still well concealed beneath the stones.

Contents

You'll have to visit the cache to find out what's inside. Suffice to say the content is varied and consists of quality items, so bring some nice things to exchange.
