Description

The cache is located at the top of the towering cliffs of St. Abbs Head (a National Trust of Scotland nature reserve). The cache is called "View Forth" as it offers exceptional views across the Firth of Forth.

The starting points I recommend for attempting this cache are the car parks at either St. Abbs harbour or the nature reserve visitors centre at Northfield. Once the car is secure take the coastal path north along the cliff tops, this route offers spectacular views of the village of St. Abbs and the coast to the south. This route then continues on past the lighthouse following the track along the cliff top, to the cache site.

The view from the cache site encompassed the whole of the lower Firth of Forth across to Fife, the May island, and on a clear day as far as the Forfarshire coast. From the cache site the imposing cliffs, which represent the meeting of the Lammermuirs and the North Sea, can be seen running off to the North West.

It is possible to drive up onto St. Abbs Head and park closer to the cache site. I have refrained from including details of this route, as you'll miss out on most of the scenery. So don't be lazy!

On a warm, still and clear summer evening at sunset, this cache site is exceptionally beautiful and sitting in the grass, with a special friend, watching the sun fall below the horizon would be very romantic.

When you leave the cache please make sure that it is still well concealed below the stones.

Contents

You'll have to visit the cache to find out what's inside. Suffice to say the content is varied and consists of quality items, so bring some nice things to exchange.
