One promised stadium down. Brought the TB to Shea tonight and watched my damn Mets lose 4-3 to the Braves. Going to post a few pics - enjoy!

    • TB with the Goin' to a Mets game traveling cache Also with the Piazza bobblehead. Mike came in for a clutch PH in the bottom of the 9th - but it wasn't enough.
    • The TB and the Outfield at Shea Stadium
    • TB and the Infield
    • A ruckus in left field loge
    • The wind-up Pedro winding up late in the game. He gave up 3 runs in the 1st.

Aren't you in luck! I am heading to Chicago and Milauwkee the first weekend in May. I won't be bringing the whole cache but I will bring the logbook for a pic at Commisky (couldn't fit Wrigley into this trip) and to see the Mets play the Brewers in Milauwkee - there will be plenty of beers to take pics of it with. If I can, I will take it to Shea during the week I am off - or hold on to it for a tiny bit after the trip to take it to a game at Shea when I get back (I will also grab a pic of it with the Goin' to a Mets Game traveling cache since I have that too). Not too shabby - three stadiums + Tommy's trip to Stankee Stadium, in about a month.

    • Miller Park
    • Miller Park again
    • Inside The view from home plate.
    • Piazza after one his two BOMBS!

If baseball parks are cathedrals to the sport of baseball, then Yankee Stadium is St Peter's Basilica. Since it opened on April 18, 1923, it has been the home of a team that has won 26 championships in its sport. Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio and Mantle (to name but a few baseball legends) have called it their home field. It was baseball's first triple-decked structure. With an advertised capacity of 70,000, it would also be the first to be labeled a stadium. It is truly a historic sports venue. Today, we took the logbook on a tour of the Stadium. After a visit to Yankee, I'm afraid it's all downhill for this travelling cache. 🙂

    • Logbook in front of The Yankee Stadium
    • Logbook with section of Championship banner 14 of the 26 are listed here.
    • From the Warning Track in Death Valley Cue that John Fogerty song. :)
    • The Monument to Babe Ruth in Monument Park Future Perfect Tommy holds the logbook
    • The Babe's Retired Number 3
    • The Iron Horse's Retired Number 4
    • The 1999 World Series Ring Even the tour guides get rings!
    • Future Perfect Tommy and Derek Jeter? I know one of the travelling cache's goals is to have a picture taken with a professional baseball player. The Yanks were out of town (although we got to see their lockers in the clubhouse) so the best I could do was this life-size Derek Jeter bobble-head doll.

Found it and put a note in the log great TB/Cache

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/10/2005 Perfect Tommy retrieved it from Stony Brook Park Connecticut   Visit Log

With thanks to the relay team consisting of katydid, Miles Stone and the CT Trampers (and the forebearance of several others), I was able to grab this travelling cache. Next stop, The Yankee Stadium and a tour of Monument Park. Since there is a ban on knapsacks and backpacks at the Stadium, I'll probably only be able to take the logbook along. If I have the chance, I'll also bring the cache by the final resting places of both the Babe and the Iron Horse so it may pay its respects to those giants of the game.

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/6/2005 CT Trampers retrieved it from A shot in the dark Connecticut   Visit Log

The Trampers are big Yankees fans, as is Perfect Tommy, so we are happy to grab the cache and place it in Fairfield County for him to find. He'll be taking it to Yankee Stadium of course!! 🙂

    Signed log, TNLN.

    PLAY BALL!!
