Let’s clean up our playing fields!
Cache In Trash Out
is an activity intimately tied to geocaching. While out there on a
cache hunt, we collect litter along the trails and properly dispose
of it. On certain days, we also participate in much larger clean-up
events that involve and benefit the larger community.
This
year, Jeep®and
Groundspeak are sponsoring International Cache In Trash Out Day.
For 2007, our fifth annual event, it will be on Saturday, April
14. Together, we make an enormous positive impact with just a
little joint effort.
Cache In Trash Out Day is an opportunity for geocachers to help
clean up the parks and other cache-friendly places throughout the
world. Through our volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural
beauty of our outdoor resources.
WHY: In
cooperation with the Geocaching.com, SCGA and Rock Hill PRT we will
be doing our part of a national/statewide CITO
event.
WHEN: Saturday April 14th, starting at 10:00 am.
WHERE: Coordinates listed is at River Park in Rock Hill. We will
gather at the main entrance of the park (listed coordinates) and
then make our way to the water side
(N 34° 57.377 W 080° 57.000) which is in need of some
cleaning and probably along some of the trails if there is enough
participation.
Trash bags and disposable latex gloves will be
provided. Plan
to maybe get a little dirty, win some door prizes and have
FUN!!!
WHAT
TO BRING: Bring your work gloves (if you have some), FRS radios, GPS
units, cameras, etc. and bring along your geocaching stories!
Bring your travel bugs, geocoins, and jeeps to swap and
trade.
DOOR
PRIZES: We
will have a few door prizes for the event and if anyone else wants
to donate something please let Paula Rinke know. We welcome
TB’s for exchange or “pick up”.
If
there is enough interest and people wanting to hang out after we
clean up we will go and have lunch at one of the local restaurants
or you may want to head to another CITO for the day that is being
held.
At
this time there are 2 listed caches in this park and more than 25
within 5 miles of the park.
If
anyone is interested also, I will have some of the South Carolina
geocoins on hand for purchasing.
Check
back often (especially day of) as we will update this page
with details of this event.
