This cache is not at the posted
co-ordinates, they will however lead you to Stage
#1
I have embarked on a Quest to try and
locate nearby trails which are little used or portions of trails
that are little used, but which are not too far to drive to, and
yet offer a getaway from the everyday.
This is the first of my Quest For
Trails, in order to log this cache you will need to follow the
stages as outlined below, you will get to log 2 Quest For Trails
caches created by "Solonm" as well as this cache, for a total of 3
caches in this Quest. You will want to take information on all
three caches with you.
Centennial Trail:
The history of the Centennial Trail can be traced back to the
Barclay Family of Calgary Alberta, where George and Elsie Barclay
raised their two daughters, Mary Belle and Elsie Catherine. The
daughters would both become school teachers and in 1933 co-founded
the Canadian Youth Hostels Association, and set up the first
official North American youth hostel at Bragg Creek,
Alberta
The Centennial Trail was built by
members of the Canadian Youth Hostels Association between 1966 -
1967, the trail stretched from Simon Fraser University to Manning
Park. A considerable amount of the trail has been incorporated into
the Trans Canada Trail and there are very few signs remaining which
refer to the Centennial Trail, (possible exceptions are the section
from 26 Mile Bridge to the Skyline Trail along the Skagit River,
and Sumas Mountain to Chadsey Lake). We do know however that the
trail into Lindeman and Greendrop lakes are on what was originally
the Centennial Trail and we know it continues Eastward out of the
Skagit Valley and into the alpine area at Manning Park, somewhere
near the ski area. This section
of the Centennial Trail starts unannounced and ends as abruptly, it
is not known where the trail continued on from
here.

The pictures above and below are a tiny
bit of what you will experience along this trail, there is
significant evidence of the huge trees once logged from many of the
valleys hillsides, and now the re-growth of the area. It is great
to have this small piece of the original trail and it is guaranteed
you will enjoy the hike along this portion of the Centennial Trail.
There is no garbage whatsoever, let's keep it that
way.

Posted to this cache page are
co-ordinates to a Trailhead which leads downhill from the
Centennial trail, upon reaching the valley floor it heads East and
follows the now dry river bed, and eventually follows the current
rivers path and takes you right past "Something's Fishy #2 "Slesse", while
exploring this trail I turned back near a campsite off of Obyrne
Rd, and had walked about 1.5 km each way. It is a great trail if
you wish to do some further exploring while on this
Quest.
Here are links to 7 more caches within

To minimize any signs of our presence, and avoid any destruction of
the vegetation , I have placed all of the caches within a meter of
the trail. You do not have to go over any steep banks or bushwhack
to the final, follow the trails.
