Silverstone Circuit No.1 - STOWE CORNER reloaded (Bucks/Northants border)
This is 1/3 of a short series of caches that take you around the world famous Silverstone Race Track, which straddles the Bucks/Northants border. After the success of 'SpeedCaching' at my HAMPDEN'S MONUMENT cache (the record is around 20 seconds from car to logbook!) I thought it might be fun to do something similar, but on a larger scale. Where better than a motorsport circuit? The added bonus of this cache series is that you can watch the action on the track for free!
I suggest you reach this cache from Silverstone Circuit No. 2 - BECKETTS at N52° 04.302 / W001° 00.371 or Silverstone Circuit No.3 - COPSE at N52° 04.739 / W001° 00.500.
This Cache is located at:
N52° 03.731 / W001° 01.050.
To get there, use the footpaths and bridleways provided. They're not always very clear, so a copy of OS Landranger Map 152 might be useful. I also suggest you bring binoculars and/or a camera to get you closer to the action. Plus at the cache location there's the possibility of nettles, so gloves and long trousers may be wise too. It's not necessary to enter any part of the Silverstone site to complete these caches, although there are many points where this is possible. Motorsport is dangerous; Don't make a Grand Prix of yourself, play safe!
It's not required to log this cache, but if you can please include your Sector Time for this cache. That's how long it took to get to it from your car. Sector two is how long it took to reach and find SC2 from SC1 and the third sector is from SC2 to SC3. If doing them in reverse order, Sector 1 is from parking to SC3, sector 2 is from SC3 to SC2 and sector 3 is from SC2 to SC1. If you time yourself on all three sections (a digital watch with a stopwatch feature is ideal for this) please also log your overall 'lap' time. I hope that makes sense!
Happy, and speedy hunting!
While you're in the area I suggest you try the other two caches in this series, plus The Hornets The Church in the Fields cache or The Secret Garden by Dan and Pid. Both are within short driving distance.
