Geocache Description:

In 1909 Cherry Valley, Washington was relocated by the railroads. It's new location became Duvall, and the town was incorporated in 1913. Several buildings that were built for the town of Cherry Valley we moved to Duvall, some of them still survive today. The most notable are on the corner of Cherry Street and Main, Duvall Flowers and Gifts, that building housed Duvall Auto Parts for about 50 years. Next to it Red Pepper Pizza, known to the locals as the the old trading post, it was painted barn red for many years. And sat empty for most of the 80's & 90's. Both building we rolled to there present location on logs. For more historcial information see the City of Duvall link or you can also visit the Duvall Historical Society at link

The cache is located in Alva Miller Park within Duvall Open Space, owned by the City of Duvall. Alva Miller, born January 21, 1892, was an early settler of Cherry Valley. Alva served in WW1. When he married, he moved to a 12-acre farm on Pole Line Road in Cherry Valley. He was a farmer with creative methods for "getting the job done". He built a picturesque water tower on his farm in 1936. Water was pumped from a spring below the house using a ram for pumping power. Alva was active in the Cherry Valley Community Club and served as President. He was also a member of the Cherry Valley Grange. He was auctioneer for the Sno-Valley Senior Citizen's fundraising event. He out-lived three wives, and a late-life partner and passed away on September 9, 1979 at the farm on Pole Line Road. The only items in the cache are official geocaching trackables and swag, or Duvall items. There is an unactivated FTF and an unactivated geocaching tag for FTF. There is a $5 gift card to the Duvall Hardware store for STF.

The Cache:
This cache is a plastic sealed 30-caliber ammo box, located in the Alva Miller Park. This Cache was originally hidden by Akitahikers on 06-14-13, and was archived in the spring of 2015. This was the last cache she hid in the area, GC4E90J Happy 100th Birthday Duvall. Since the centenial was two years ago I decided it would be best to rename the cache. I also updated the caches listed on the page because some had come and gone since the original publishing, however the cache container and log are the original.  Please know that if you found the original version of this cache you are welcome to go out and sign the log again, and then log your find on line as this is a new cache listing and new owner so technically it is considered to be a different cache.  Also your going to be under heavy tree cover when your looking for the cache, I have inproved the hint, and I'd recommend you read it before you head into the wood and keep your eyes open for the spot as your GPS  may lead you in further than you need to be.

Congratulations to Pie Rats for FTF of the original incarnation of the cache!

This cache was placed by a WSGA member. If you are a geocacher in the state of Washington, please consider joining Washington State Geocaching Association. See the WSGA website for details.
