It is sad what the Geocaching souvenir game does to a person. There is no good reason to celebrate Canada Day except maybe that they give us hockey. Yet, with the announcement of a Canada Day Souvenir, here a good American is planning a Canada Day event.
So what should we do on what will likely be a hot day three days before a much more worthy holiday (Murica!)? Let's swim or boat out and see if Hart Island Redux is still out there. Bring a boat, kayak, and/or some swim attire and let's head out to the island and see if the cache is still there. We might have some other fun activities planned as well and as always, visit with your fellow cachers, swap TBs, and generally have a good time. You do not have to enter the water to attend this event, sign the log, and enjoy your fellow Geocachers. We need cheerleaders from the shore too!
And if you haven't found Pitcairn: Mutiny of Bligh's Bounty (one of The Twenty Oldest Caches in Kern County), why not pack up our water craft and head over to Truxtun Lake and find it afterwards too.
And after it is all said and done, if we want to find a nice place to go enjoy a meal together, let's wrap up the day eating and being merry. All for what is likely a souvenir of our polite northern neighbor's flag that we will never look at again because no one cares about souvenirs once you have earned them. %canada %souvenirs
