Geocache Description:

Welcome to my scale model of the Solar System! This series of caches will take you down Highway 14 from Interstate 82 all the way to the east end of Klickitat County. The scale is 1 mile = 1 astronomical unit, which means that the geocache representing the Earth is about one mile from the geocache representing the Sun. The Solar System is a big place. At this scale, the geocache for Pluto is almost 40 miles to the west. At this scale, if I were to place a geocache to represent the Voyager I spacecraft (just to be clear, I didn't) it would be 152 miles west. This is across the river from Cascade Locks.

This cache represents Jupiter - the largest known planet in our Solar System. If you are trying to find the Sun, make sure you take note of the letter and number inside the lid. The shoulder of the highway is wide enough to pull off and find the cache, but be sure to watch for cars.
