Three Rivers Stadium

During the construction of the Three Rivers Stadium, Black people were excluded from the many job offerings this project opened up. In order to demand more access to these jobs, picketers stood in front of each gate of the new stadium during August of 1969. Their numbers were curtailed, originally to only four people per gate. At one point, the picketers were stoned by White workers when they attempted to block the path of trucks. The Three Rivers Stadium was also along the path of the “Black Monday” protest mentioned in cache #4.
