Geocache Description:

"The Maple Leaf Forever"

by TRAIN1885

This is a theme cache, please trade Canadian items particulary ones with the Maple Leaf on them. An easy level walk, but there is a little bit of thinking needed to find this one. I would suggest that you take a pocket calculator with you unless you are real quick with math.

This cache is located in the Hamilton Marsh Nature Trail area. The above co-ordinates will get you to the place to start your walk from. There is parking in an unpaved lot at the entrance to the trail from this location. You will need to know how to project a waypoint using your GPSr and do a couple of mathmatical calculations.

If you need to make a decision about which way to go or which thing to pick be sure that you choose the "right" one. If you do so you will be able to get to the cache--if not you may be wandering around for a while.

You need to find a sign that talks about things that are buried and are connected internationally. On the signs are two phone numbers to call just incase you want to dig and need to locate what is buried, or incase you have already dug and want to let them know that you have just interrupted important world wide communictations. Ignore the second number you do not need it. The first number is the important one.

Ok got your calculator or paper and pencil ready? Divide the area code provided by 3.49 and round down to the nearest whole number. Keep this answer, call it X you will need it in a minute.

Next Divide the last four digits of the first phone number by 14.6 and round up to the nearest whole number. Save this answer call it Y . Get out you GPS and turn it on, here is where all the practicing that you have done with projecting a waypoint will come in handy. Using the co-ordinates for getting to the parking area as your starting point project a new waypoint that is a distance of Y metres on a bearing of X degrees Magnetic (19 degrees E).

Travel to this new waypoint and remember how to decide if you have any choices to make as you go. When you arrive at your destination have a seat on the bench and look around at the surrounding marsh depending on the water level at the time that you are there you may or may not be floating.
When you are ready to go on return to solid ground and head on, again doing the right thing when you need to make a choice. You are now looking for a special tree that has protection from the government of B.C. When you find it look on a bearing between 20-40 degrees for fallen twins. Choose one of them and find the cache.
