Geocache Description:

Welcome to Troy!

No, this is not the site of Homer's epic, where fierce battles raged for years upon years, and heroes like Achilles and Hector were immortalized as they fought a war that began when the beautiful Helen was stolen from her husband, Menelaus, by Paris of Troy. This is not the Troy of legend, but rather Troy Cemetery in Troy Township, which sits at the very southern end of Geauga County.

You won't find any Trojan horses here, but if you look around, you may find several Foxes. Although you may see a marker or two with the name "Helen" on it, none of them could be considered Helen of Troy, but if you have the time, be sure to pay your respects to the Wealthy wife, whose memorial can be found at N 41° 23.190 W 081° 08.926.

Cemetery hours are from dawn to dusk. Absolutely no night caching is allowed! Please be respectful of all who rest here. The cache is a camouflaged 35mm film can with no room for trade items. Please bring your own pen or pencil and be sure to replace the cache exactly as you found it.

This cache is one of six in a series that you will need to find to determine the final coordinates of "70's One-Hit Wonders: Have a Nice Day!" Each of these six caches contains a set of lyrics from a song that was made popular by a one-hit wonder group or solo artist in the 1970's. All of the lyric clues can be found in the log sheets. Using this small section of the song, you must determine the song title and ultimately the year that the song reached its highest position on Billboard magazine's Top 40 list. The last digit of that year will be the number you seek to gain the final cache's coordinates.

Although some of the songs may have been remade by contemporary artists, each song was originally made popular in the 1970's, and the year of its popularity is what you must find. Please do not give away any of the lyrics, song titles, or years in your logs or they may be deleted! However, if you had a favorite song by a one-hit wonder of the 1970's, or just a favorite 1970's song in general, please feel free to mention it in your find log.

All of these caches were placed in October of 2006, to commemorate the year of Geauga County's bicentennial. I hope you enjoy your caching journey through the beautiful and historic Geauga County. Watch for the special bicentennial banners as you make your way between cache locations. If you find all of the caches in the series, including the final, you will have visited at least six of the sixteen townships in Geauga County, including a trip through Middlefield Village.

Note that some of the hints for these caches are actually song titles from 70's one-hit wonders, along with their year of popularity. These hints will not help you solve the lyrics or the puzzle to determine the final cache location, but hopefully they will help you find the cache at hand if you're having difficulty.
