Welcome to the Medina Count Parks "Paths to Pollinators" series. The Medina Marsh portion of your adventure starts in the parking lot located at 4266 Fenn Rd., Medina, OH 44256. A ½ mile round-trip hike will be required to complete this portion of the journey. Follow the directions below or use your GPS to find the cache, collect your Passport code word for a prize, a clue to the Bonus Cache and to sign the log book. There are seven caches and a bonus in this series.
From the parking lot proceed down the steps and to the right on to the concrete path below. At the end of the concrete, follow the mowed path to the left and past a tall man-made structure that is a remnant of the business that once was here.
Continue to follow the path up past the giant cottonwood tree that stands on the right and where the path turns left. As you continue, you will pass four Wetland Preservation Signs. When you get to the fifth preservation sign, the path curves to the left.
Continue your meandering walk on the trail until you pass by two tall structures on the right side of the trail. The first one is a house for bats, high on a wooden pole. Next is a tall white tower, which is a place for the aerial acrobatic birds, Chimney Swifts, to nest. Then pass by a storm sewer drain.
You are getting closer to the final quest! Search for a multi-trunk tree to the south of the trail to locate the item that you seek. Collect your Passport code word and Bonus Cache clue, return the inner container and latch the outer box before replacing. Continue up the trail until you arrive back at the parking lot.
The cache is located mere feet from the trail. Use stealth while searching and re-hide the containers so that they cannot be seen to avoid potential vandalism. Park closes at dark.
