Welcome to the Ruddy Doctor Caches, a series of puzzles linked together loosely with a whimsical story following the various regenerations of my favourite Time Lord.
The puzzles are nestled away in passages linking the various Doctor’s regeneration scenes, so you’ll need to skim at least through to find the goods and the occasional clue. You can assume coordinates are N 52° XX.XXX' W 001° XX.XXX' and will need you own pen and tweezers. All were conceived and placed by Doctor RuddRobins + checked and difficulty assessed by Mrs RuddRobins.
The notes at the end are random Docfacts not needed to complete the puzzle. I hope you find it all mildly amusing and it keeps you out of trouble for at least a little while J
The Ruddy Doctor 1: The First Doctor
The orange iridescence of regeneration energy faded . . .
DOCTOR: “Well, hmmm as changes go that is a tad . . . lacklustre I must say” muttered the Doctor, now an apparently frail old man with piercing eyes in a black frock coat. “I may have advanced in years but clearly reports of my regeneration are greatly exaggerated, eh? Seems I’ve simply been moved along my time lines at the caprice of The Guardians – and I DO NOT APPRECIATE BEING TOYED WITH!”
Still, onward eh? So far it seems these puzzles are not likely to task me unduly, hmm? Now look: a new little challenge to solve – it’s terribly familiar. Yes, yes indeed from my encounter with The Celestial Toymaker don’t you know? Devious fellow, set me a single challenge with 10 pieces to solve optimally. Child’s play, child’s play!

DOCTOR: There: an obvious answer requiring very little of my powers, hmm? Although, I do find myself a little fatigued.
(The Doctor staggers)
It seems this old body of mine is wearing a bit thin.
(The Doctor turns, seemingly addressing an unseen companion)
DOCTOR: What did you say, my boy? It's all over. It's all over. That's what you said. No, but it isn't all over. It's far from being all over. I must get back to the Tardis immediately!
(On cue the familiar shape of a blue police telephone box shimmered into being. The Doctor fumbles at the door with his key then almost falls inside)
[Tardis]
(The Doctor is overtaken by an invisible power but summons the effort to close the door. Levers are moving and the central column is moving up and down. The Doctor collapses. To the familiar sound of dematerialisation, the Doctor's features change to those of a younger dark haired man.)
Notes:
From the beginning, the Doctor was a mysterious figure. He appeared to be a frail old man and yet was possessed of unexpected reserves of strength and will. He obviously held tremendous knowledge of scientific matters, and yet was unable to pilot his TARDIS time ship reliably; its systems would often break down, especially the navigational systems. This, combined with the fact the TARDIS was actually designed for six pilots, would explain the difficulty the Doctor encountered in piloting it correctly. He was abrasive, patronising, and cantankerous towards his human travelling companions, yet shared a deep emotional bond with his granddaughter Susan. He also harboured a streak of ruthlessness, being willing to lie—and in one case attempt to kill—to achieve his goals.
Eventually, the Doctor began to enjoy his travels through time and space, taking people along for the ride and was always reluctant and sad to see them go, even when he knew it was for their own good. The initially irascible and slightly sinister Doctor quickly mellowed into a more compassionate figure. He was protective of the young women he took on as companions; they reminded him of his granddaughter, Susan.
