About This Item

My 1000 find was El Diablo GC1251Y. It was a very well done cache on an abandoned railroad bridge. If the cache is ever archived, I'll add more to this description. A special thanks to H2Guy for placing El Diablo, and then for giving me this coin to celebrate the event.

Original Find 5/26/07: This cache rocks. It's rated 1/1, but I'd put it at 3/1. I made at least three visits to find this cache. The simplicity and open nature is very clever. I liked this so much, that I incorporated the concept into my Coit - RX Up in Smoke. It's a "No Parking" sign on the front of a dumpster gate. The sign swings out after you unlatch the hidden latch. You simply sign the back of the sign.

Original Find 10/19/07: I DNF'd this cache several times. It's still an active cache. GZ is a telephone pole with tons of nails and staples left by old signs tacked to it. The cache is a flat roofing nail head glued to a tiny cache. The cache fits in a small hole in the telephone pole. The flat nail head is all you can see. Just like all the other nails and staples on the pole. Very clever indeed.

Original Find 10/11/07: The cache is still active. GZ for this cache brings you to a bridge over a creek. McTwin took a foam like substance and cut it to look like a bolt with the center cut out. The cache was placed in the middle to look like a screw end sticking through a bolt. Both pieces were colored to match the bridge. The extra bolt was added to a series of real bolts on the underside of the bridge.

Original Find 9/10/07: The cache is still active. It's placement is on a dead set of railroad tracks. You have to pull out railroad spikes until you find the one with the bottom cut off. The cache has been replaced for the bottom half.

Original Find 8/17/07: This cache just rocks. It's placement is in a small round-about with the road going around both sides of this tiny island. All this little island has is a few bushes and a sign. The cache is a metal strip with holes that match the pole design exactly. Magnets were added with a flat log. The metal strip lays flat with the holes lined up on the pole. I found this with no help or hints. My mind expanded on clever ways to do caches after finding this.
