Leap Day 2020 find on a nice little walk in the park. I wonder what the next four years will bring; hope to be able to do this for another Leap Day or two. Very blessed in any case...

My first find this year; 02022020 cache. Quick and easy at the park on a pretty Sunday afternoon.

I decided I needed to find a local cache on my way back home from lunch with some of the grands, so this one was right on the way at the old Blockbuster building. I don't usually commit federal offenses to find a cache, but I think I may have today. Nicely done cache, though.

It will also let my travel coin return to Newnan after its Maine adventures. It would have a lot more miles on it if I always did that after a trip.

This is my first "gadget cache" find, and a cute one! Little birdhouse of well-worn books at the Bar Harbor library, with an old cemetery and a beautiful, welcoming church which we visited across the street. I was able to get the cache open quickly, and even get it put back together. This is the only traditional cache currently active inside the town of Bar Harbor, and it gets lots of finds. We enjoyed walking around this pretty little town and I enjoyed finding one last cache in Maine.

Visited 9/24/2019 busternfruss took it to The Bar That Named a Town Maine - 100.32 miles  Visit Log

What a unique place this is! The bar is totally submerged up to 12 feet except at low tide, when you can walk across it to Bar Island. Bar Harbor was named for this bar. It was a short walk from where we stayed and this was a fun afternoon just BEFORE low tide; not taking any chances of getting stranded (or drowned)!

I've found several Maine caches that could earn a favorite point if I had one to give, but if I can accumulate one more this Earthcache might get it. It's not everyday you can walk across the sea floor to an island, and your Bean boots keep your feet dry.
Saw a beautiful "Forrest Gump" feather floating in very clear water there, too. Just nice...

Visited 9/23/2019 busternfruss took it to Thunder Hole Maine - 2.88 miles  Visit Log

Another scenic spot with an Earthcache. This is another cache inside Acadia National Park, but Thunder Hole was more like "Whisper Hole" today at low tide, which is fine. Also, much of the walkway was closed due to unsafe conditions so we couldn't get very close. Hoping I found enough of the required info to get the find. Acadia is a beautiful park!

Visited 9/23/2019 busternfruss took it to Cadillac Mountain Cache Maine - 31.98 miles  Visit Log

Easy virtual cache at the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, the day after we arrived in Bar Harbor. Our local tour bus stopped right beside GZ so this was a quick one. The views here are fantastic, so fantastic that I forgot to get the needed info for the Earthcache that's right here too. Oh, well... I think I wound up finding nine of the many close-by caches in Maine, many more than I usually have time for with my non-caching traveling buddies!

We pulled over at this scenic overlook on the Penobscot River at a pretty cable stay bridge, and wonders upon wonders--a cache, too! A bonus is that it's at "the last place satellites will ever look," LOL. (Still love "The Hunt for Red October.") Fun day in Maine!

Visited 9/22/2019 busternfruss took it to Igneous Breakwater Maine - 1.56 miles  Visit Log

Very nice Earthcache at an almost-one mile long granite block breakwater at the Rockland harbor. We didn't walk to the Lighthouse cache at the end of the breakwater, and I didn't attempt the cache that was down a rocky slope off the path to the breakwater (trying to stay out of the nursing home!). I'm content with one of the three. This is a beautiful setting on a very nice drive through Maine. The weather is even gorgeous, too.

Visiting a cache in Rockland, ME, near the little restaurant by the Bay where we had some clam chowder for lunch. Nice drive from Freeport to Bar Harbor, enjoying the scenery.
