About This Item

Charlie the Beach Comber

My name is Charlie the Beach Comber. I’m now headed home to West Newbury, Massachusetts. Please don’t pick me up if you can’t move me along in the next few weeks. I left home in October of 2002 to visit the beaches of Florida. My goal was to collect a sample of sand from a sunny Florida Beach. Thanks to some great geocachers I’ve now achieved this goal and am now headed home. Please don’t lose the sand from my pack, and get me home soon. Thanks for helping me on my way!

Charlie has made it home. Absolutely amazing. After 3 years two months and over 13,000 miles Charlie has returned from Florida with a pile-o-sand. He collected sand from multiple beaches, plus a sea shell, sand dollar, and a neat piece of sea glass. Thanks to all the great geocachers who helped him on his way. I've even completely forgiven the cacher who temporarily diverted Charlie from his mission to visit Alaska! (Luckily the next finder took him right back to sunny Florida.) Special thanks goes to team2hunt for going out of their way to get charlie home. Sorry about the cache recommendation guys. I realized when I picked Charlie up this morning that it may not have been easy to find at night and in the snow!

Charlie now goes into temporary retirement....Until another worthy mission is determined.

Dropped Charlie off today, we see he is carrying some Florida sand. We added a sand dolla, we picked up on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick Canada. You now have a souvenier from the south and the north. 😁

Well, my intentions were good, but I just didn't make it to the Beach with Charlie. I'm happy that I got to meet him just the same!

HAD to have this guy!!! I can help him get closer to his goal in the near future as I will be heading toward the area. I took the liberty to add a small piece of sea glass from the coast of maine - figured since we had the same name it might be ok 😉
